Raku Teaware is specifically designed for use with tea.

While it is safe for tea and matcha, the porous nature of the clay renders these pieces generally unsuitable for other food items or liquids, including any dairy or non-dairy alternatives that may be added to tea. If you are using a Raku Matcha Bowl, you should transfer the matcha to a cup or mug after mixing before incorporating any dairy or dairy substitutes.

Raku Teaware is not dishwasher safe.

A simple hand wash with hot water directly after use is typically enough to keep your piece clean! If necessary, a gentle soap can be used to eliminate any residue. Avoid soaking your pieces. After washing, allow them to air dry completely before storing, and ensure they are stored in a place with adequate airflow.

Raku Teaware is not microwave safe.

The porous clay is susceptible to rapid temperature changes, which can lead to splitting or cracking due to the expansion of any residual moisture within the clay.

Raku pottery is a living, breathing, form of pottery. As you use your piece on a regular basis, the cracks and crevices within the glaze and clay will begin to patina and adopt the color of your tea. This Is normal and Is part of what makes this firing method so special!
